Since 2000, the Korean company DOOSAN has invested more than $50 million to develop the new generation equipment – excavators DX series and DL loaders.

First of all, the new machines were equipped with the Common Rail engines, which correspond to both present and future requirements on exhaust emission and noise. Also the completely redesigned microprocessor control system EPOS which is related to the electronic control of the engine fuel injection system is a new product. The integration of Common Rail and EPOS allows fine adjusting the engine – hydraulics system and optimal utilizing the power of the engine and the hydraulic system.  It favors the performance of the machine, its efficiency and high operating rate. EPOS is also responsible for diagnostics of all related units when the engine starts up, as well as for monitoring of their operation and data storage.

For detailed study, these data are downloaded to a standard mobile computer with appropriate software (SMS) which allows diagnostics of defects at early stages of work and timely troubleshooting. There are two operation modes for Doosan excavators and two modes for the engine. The “digging” mode is applied for major excavation works with the transport uploading or movement of the soil into the pile with the rotation of the platform through a relatively small angle. In this mode, the supply of the hydraulic fluid to the hydraulic motor rotating the platform and to the cylinders of working equipment is balanced. In the “trench” mode used for trenches and side walls excavation, the platform rotation will have priority. The engine operation modes are: standard mode – economical, when the engine runs at 85% capacity, and full power mode, when 100% of the engine resources are used for heavy soils excavation.

The components of the new generation equipment that were designed using the 3D modeling and strength calculations have been thoroughly tested. So, our company could twice the service life of the components compared to the standard ones being produced today and halved the likelihood of breakdowns and failures. In addition, the company has applied the high-strength and abrasion-resistant materials for the wear-prone parts. The joints of the working equipment are equipped with wear-resistant bushings with excellent antifriction properties allowing proper lubricating. Thus, the lubrication interval for boom and arm joint is 250 h, for the bucket joint – 50 h. In addition, the bucket joint is provided with round polyurethane gaskets against metal surfaces wearing.

Lubricant to the friction units goes through the pipelines which are grouped and brought to the easy-to-access places. The optional central lubrication system simplifies maintenance and ensures optimal operating conditions of friction units and considerably increases their service life. The filters are also provided with easy access to them. The large air filter holds up to 99% of dust. The fuel system comprises the coarse filter, the separating filter that separates water, and the fine filter.

The fiberglass filter element of the hydraulic system holds up to 99.5% of solid particles and protects the system elements and increases the maintenance intervals.

 The new generation Doosan excavators and loaders have an updated exterior styling and the cab’s interior. The appearance has acquired a modern smooth and harmonious shape. The right middle rack, which obstructed the view, has disappeared from the excavator cabs. The side panels are shaped as in the racing car cockpit. The controls are arranged somewhat differently. Most switches are on the extended right side panels, and the rest of them are distributed at the control consoles which can move on the sled with the seat and are adjustable by height. The designers have also changed the design of the display. Two small LCD panels are integrated into one with the usual sides’ ratio 3:4. In normal mode the panel displays the window with the date, time, engine speed and three animated arrow devices: fuel level, temperature of

engine and of working fluid. Using the buttons under the panel you can look through the windows with data and control functions. The air conditioning system automatically maintains the desired temperature. No household staff is forgotten: cup holder, glove compartment, small fridge for a couple of bottles, and stereo system with MP3/CD player.
