The Doosan DX300LC excavator with the chopper bucket

06The company Taylor Site Services from Cardiff (UK) has recently adopted a new excavator Doosan DX300LC equipped with the bucket MB900 Dig-A-Crusher with the chopper for treatment of the accumulated lumpy slag produced by the nearby steel mill Celsa.

Initially, a small mobile crusher was chosen for this operation. However, in practice it turned out absolutely unfit for this task. Whenever a piece of metal accidentally got into the loading bin, the crushing jaws jammed and the whole process had to be suspended until this piece was extracted by hand.

But the combination of the new excavator and the chopper bucket showed the best results. To remove the piece of metal the operator can just turn over the 3.5-tons unit and empty its content onto the ground, and then continue the work.

Only two days a week are needed for the machine to treat about 3,000 tons of slag. For all other time, it can be used as a normal excavator for other works on the site.

The 30-ton excavator DX300LC is already the sixth Doosan machine bought by the company Taylor Site Services. All equipment of this manufacturer is supplied by the local dealer Construction Plant Services that also works in Cardiff.
